About Northland Bordeaux

Northland Bordeaux Canadian Show

Exhibitors and breeders of the Dogue de Bordeaux (or French Mastiff) since 1990, Northland Bordeaux is located in the country, 80 miles west of Chicago, IL. Through thoughtful, selective breeding practices, health screening and temperament testing, owners Mark and Cindy McElderry have taken great strides toward producing consistently beautiful, good-natured and healthy dogues. As some of the early pioneers of the Dogue de Bordeaux in the United States,

Cindy McElderry

the couple played a major role in the breed gaining AKC recognition in 2008. Through frequent trips to Europe and active membership in the Société des Amateurs de Dogues de Bordeaux in France, the McElderrys have fostered relationships with some of the most renowned Dogue de Bordeaux kennels in the world, resulting in improvements in the breed in the United States.

Mark and Cindy continue to actively prove the quality of the Dogue de Bordeaux puppies and dogues they produce, by competing at dog shows in the United States and abroad.  In an effort to preserve the Dogue de Bordeaux standard, the McElderry's are also active in mentoring AKC judges and providing seminars on the Dogue de Bordeaux.   Because of their many years as successful breeders and exhibitors of the Dogue de Bordeaux, Mark and Cindy were accepted as provisional judges with the AKC.  This is seen as an opportunity to continue to pass on their knowledge of the breed.
